In this foundation course, licensed tattoo artist Cyrus Maravilla will teach you all the basics of tattooing in a safe, step-by-step way.

The course is packed full of video lessons, practice exercises and demos to make sure that you really learn the skills you’re taught and progress efficiently. You’ll start off by covering the proper sanitisation procedures to follow before and during your tattoo practice; you’ll learn all about the tools of the trade with in-depth lessons that take you through the different types of machines, needles, and all the other equipment and supplies you’ll need. Cyrus will then take you through the important considerations of design, flow and placement before covering the tattoo process itself.

Start with linework and master how to pull solid, straight lines – master straight lines, curved lines and how to join lines the correct way. Move on to shading and learn how to use brush, whip, stipple and dotwork techniques. You’ll also cover how to mix and use both grey washes and opaque greys.

Next, tackle the colour section with a deep dive into colour theory, skin complexions, how to mix colours and how to pack solid colour. And finally, learn all about aftercare and how to make sure you do everything perfectly right to the very end.
